Ensuring authenticity?

If you buy from Nite or an authorised Nite Watch owner, your watch purchase is guaranteed, although there is no evidence of any grey imports being available. Some second hand Nite models will appear on eBay, as a result of owners and/or dealers disposing of trade-in watches. All new Nite watches are backed by our two year warranty.

Once you have purchased your watch from this website it will be automatically registered for your standard two year warranty. Registering your watch will also allow you to interact with other nite watch owners within Unite, our owner community. Many will be active people with stories to tell and we actively encourage owners to tell us about their experiences and adventures and to join the Unite members club. As a Unite member you will receive information, new product news and invitations to events and launches.

How do I clean my watch?

We recommend that watches are cleaned using a soft tooth brush and soapy water in the event they are caked in mud or dust. (see Warranty section)

Is it accurate?

We use Ronda movements with a manufacturer's accuracy rating of +/- 10-20 seconds per month

How do I look after my watch?

Never attempt to open the watch yourself as this will immediately invalidate your warranty. To keep your watch clean and the bezel and straps operating smoothly just keep it clean by using warm soapy water. The sapphire crystal is triple-coated and should remain clear and unmarked, while the case, bracelet or straps are subject to marking in adverse circumstances.

If your battery runs low the second hand of the watch will start to move intermittently and in four second increments. If this happens you should return your watch to us for a full service and battery replacement.

It is important to check that the screw pins remain tight and secure therefore you should regularly check these and tighten when necessary. If you remove the pins to change the strap or clean the watch head, applying Nite TL43 adhesive to the screw heads will help keep the screws locked within the lugs.

What is pressure testing?

All nite watches are pressure tested so that the stated water resistant capabilities are maintained.

Can I trade-in my watch?

You can if you wish trade in your old Nite watch for a new one and receive a substantial allowance for your old model; we always have a market for second hand watches and would be only too pleased to do this.

What is a watch-case?

The watch-case is the metal housing that contains the internal parts of a watch. The cases are manufactured from the highest quality aviation grade 316 stainless steel and to exacting standards.

What is a case-back?

The case-back is the rear section of the case that is screwed into the watch-case. It is also produced in extra thick 316 stainless steel and screws down into position to gain maximum water resistance and durability.

What is a crown?

Many people call this the winder – it is the steel nodule extending from the watch-case that is used to set the time and date. The crown has two settings one for adjusting the date and one for setting the time.

On chronograph models the two additional nodules above and below the screw crown are known as chronograph crowns. These are used for operating the chronograph functions.

Chronograph Crowns are made water-tight by the use of double O-rings.

What is a bezel?

The surface ring on a watch that surrounds and holds the crystal in place is called the bezel. A rotating ratchet bezel rotates in some sport watches as part of the timing device. Watches with a single directional bezel are considered as more professional and are used to assist in calculations for elapsed times and dual time zones.

What is a dial?

The watch face that contains the numerals, indices or surface design is called the dial or face. While these parts are usually applied, some are printed. Sub-dials are smaller dials-set in the main face of the watch. These can be used for added functions, such as elapsed times and dates. Dials differ from model to model in size, specification and colour.

What is a crystal?

The glass cover over the watch face is called the crystal. There are three types of crystals commonly found in watches: acrylic crystal is an inexpensive plastic that allows shallow scratches to be buffed out. Mineral crystal is composed of several elements that are heat-treated to create an unusual hardness that aids in resisting scratches. K1 Mineral is a higher grade of mineral glass which is considerably tougher and more scratch resistant than standard or cheaper minerals.

Sapphire crystal is the most expensive and durable, approximately three times harder than mineral crystals and 20 times harder than acrylic crystals. A non-reflective coating on the inner surface of the crystal is used on high quality sports watches prevent glare. Nite watches use only Sapphire crystal and K1 mineral on their watches and apply triple layer anti-reflective to all models.

What is GTLS illumination technology?

All Nite watches feature a rare illumination technology called GTLS (Gaseous Tritium Light Source). This highly specialised technology is also used in advanced military hardware and pioneering safety equipment where a guaranteed light source is needed for safe operations in all hazardous environments and conditions. Electrons emitted from the tritium gas excite the phosphorous coated lining of the GTLS to produce a continuous cold light source that will typically last between 10 and 20 years.

Does the illumination change colours or brightness?

GTLS lamps come in different colours and green and orange are the brightest to the human eye. Blue is less bright than green or orange and red is weaker still. Consequently, Nite uses predominantly orange lights at midday/midnight and either green or blue to denote the hours of the day. The hour, minute and second hands also have lights fitted to aid reading ability.

What is a quartz crystal watch?

Quartz watches work with a series of electronic components, rather than a wound spring, relying on a battery for its energy. The battery sends electrical energy to a rotor to produce an electrical current that passes through a magnetic coil to a quartz crystal which vibrates at a very high frequency (32,768 times a second), providing highly accurate timekeeping. These impulses are passed through a stepping motor that turns the electrical energy into the mechanical energy needed to turn the gear train. The gear train turns the motion work, which actually moves the hands on the watch dial.

Can a local jeweller replace a battery on my watch?

Battery replacements, repair and warranty work during the term of the warranty period MUST be carried out by an authorised Nite repair centre. Failure to adhere to this requirement will invalidate your warranty and a cost will be incurred.

If your watch is outside of the warranty cover then a trained technician can complete this work for you, however Nite strongly recommend that you seek a reputable jeweller that can also perform a pressure test.

Do you offer a disposal and after sales service?

Yes, we do comply with all WEEE requirements, therefore, if your watch gets irretrievably damaged and you need to dispose of it, please simply send your watch to us at the following address:

Is the watch approved by the military?

The technology used to illuminate the dial, numerals and hands of the watch are of military standard. Some of our products are registered with NATO and these models will be engraved with a NATO stock number on the case back.

Is there radiation safety?

On average, we are all exposed to natural radiation sources from both space and our surroundings to about 2.4Sv a year, depending on geographic location. As a wearer of a Nite watch, you are exposed to zero radiation, but in the unlikely event of the watch being destroyed and vials simultaneously broken, the wearer would be exposed to radiation some 30 times lower than the average described above.

Who makes the movement?

Nite specify one of the world's leading Swiss based watch movement manufacturers, Ronda, whose analogue and chronograph products are exacting and precise.

Can I choose a metal bracelet?

The metal bracelets used are integral to the watch design and unique to Nite with double locking clasp and fully adjustable. Links can be inserted or removed by any quality jeweller and the parts required for this can be obtained from Nite on a complimentary basis. If you are ordering a watch and have a very large wrist please feel free to ask us to add a few links to your watch before shipping. NOTE our bracelets are oversized as standard and would comfortably fit most wrist sizes.

What are the strap options?

The straps on Nite watches are made from leather, polymer, or nylon webbing which is sometimes used on some of the military style models such as the NATO. These straps are available in a variety of colours and fit multiple models across the range.

Straps and steel bracelets are not covered by warranty. Most straps come with a double locking feature that prevents the tail end of the strap from catching on clothing and equipment. It is also more secure and comfortable.

How do I change the date on my watch?

There is a trick to ensuring your watch always displays the correct date; first, unscrew the crown fully and turn clockwise to move the date to the day before the actual date. Then push the crown one step back into the watch case and turn it to 'fast forward' the time past midnight so that the date function alters at that time and keep turning until you reach the correct time. Then push the crown back in and screw in (as required (on some models).

IMPORTANT NOTE: When the date window turns forward from one day to the next while winding the hands of the watch around the dial it means that the time on the watch is 12.00 Midnight on the date that was showing before it was turned.

Water resistance

No watch is entirely waterproof and those without any indication of a safe depth marked on the dial should not be submerged at all. All Nite watches are resistant to depths of between 100m and 300m. Push in screw in crowns and O-ring seals aid this feature.

Push-in crown, back plate and 'O' ring seals?

There are a variety of ways to make a watch water resistant. All such watches use rubber gaskets or O-rings to seal the case back. A watch with a back that screws onto the case provides a higher degree of water resistance. Some crowns (the "winding stem") actually screw into the case to further increase water resistance.

What is the battery life expectancy?

Generally, the battery in a quartz watch will need to be replaced approximately every 4-5 years, although some of our watches have highly specified lithium batteries lasting up to 10 years. However, if you own a chronograph model with a Ronda 5040D movement and leave the large second hand timer continuously operating, it will half the lifetime of the battery because the movement is not designed to operate this way.

Is there a warranty cover?

The Nite Watches international Warranty covers material and manufacturing defects and we guarantee to repair or replace a customer's watch. Replacements will be either the same model or an equivalent specification model if a direct replacement is unavailable.

All warranty submissions must be accompanied by proof of purchase or with a valid warranty card or customer warranty registration number.

Are there any warranty limitations?

Our international Warranty covers material and manufacturing defects, not damage incurred through 'wear and tear' or ageing. It is the owner's responsibility to register their purchase online, completing the form entirely, including the date of the purchase, from which date the two year warranty begins. The warranty does not include the sapphire glass, strap, bracelet or damage to the movement caused by handling errors or through tampering.

What to do if I have a warranty claim?

All watches that are in need of repair or servicing should be sent to our repair facilities at the address below. When you return your watch to us for service or repair your watch will undergo a thorough service routine.
