My name is Matti Räty and I am a freeskier and we're not talking about moguls or pole plants here!

I started skiing around 14-15 years old.  I had no previous experience of downhill skiing and now at the age of 23, my interest and passion for skiing has adapted more and more towards streets, concrete and metal stairs moving away from traditional ski resorts.

During the winter months I film short movies featuring some exceptional ski talent from within our crew, Nipwitz.  Skiing and filming in an urban environment can be challenging when you need to prepare and build all the street spots to fit your skiing needs, but that is why it is so damn rewarding!  Some people search for that same type of feeling from the mountains, where you need to hike up for those powder lines.  The hard work pays off and even some smaller things feel much better when you have worked for it on your own or with your friends.

For me freeskiing is one of the best sports and lifestyles to implement your own visions, whether it is some new trick you have thought about or some special location.  Every day of filming and skiing can be a new experience if you date to leave those corduroy groomers and let you imagination do its thing!
